leds?

Alright i want leds. I have never been a "D.I.Y" kind of guy i'd rather pay more to get a finished product. So on to the question : the ecoxotic panorama leds from foster and smith aquatics, good buy or bad? Anyone know of a cheaper option or a better set-up? I want advice before i jump in but this is something i want to do. Would really appreciate any advice or for-warning.

I have one of the ecoxotic stunner strips for my sump and its very very very bright. from what I've read the ecoxotic panorama LEDs are very very good. I will be using them on my setup for SPS corals.

The Ecoxotic Panoramas are pretty nice LEDs for the price. The Ecoxotic Stunner Strips are 1/2 the par of the Panoramas. My favorite LEDs are Aqua Illuminations Sol Module. I bought an AI Sol Module recently and I can't believe the amount of light it produces. I also got the controller and I can adjust the blue LEDs separate from the white LEDs. This AI Sol Module LED was probably the best purchase I've made for my tank. Aqua Cave currently has the best deal on this module. http://www.aquacave.com/aqua-illuminations-sol-brwhite-modular-ledbr-lighting-system-3151.html

^^ for the price of that I would go with ecoxotic modules. The PAR ratings for the stunners was done without the optional reflector which is polished aluminum and the panorama has one built in. I think that with the reflector it would produce more than half the PAR of the panorama for half the price which would make doubling up the stunners more effective than the panorama. plus the stunner has better penetration at 15" and lower

I just ordered 4 stunners with reflectors (2 blue 2 ultra violet) as enhancements for my pair of 250 MHs. They're arriving on Wednesday. I have a 29 inch high tank, so I'll be able to tell you what the penetration is like. I paid roughly 230 for everything.

I would too... I haven't found any PAR ratings on them with the reflectors... they claim to double the output but I would think they would only do 75-90% increases. That still puts them over the Panoramas though

nice find jeff BUT it's 160 watts the ecoxotic panorama is only 73. If I do this and spend this much I want ALL the benefits (plus i'm not doing sps so i don't need the sun above my tank lol)

I still think that linking either the stunners or the panorama modules together under a hood would be the best option... especially with the stunners for color with their UV option

the set-up your speaking of is cheaper, BUT uses more watts which i thought was the point of leds, to use less watts. thats all i'm saying. Yes they have a 60 watt model but it is only a 7" x 7" square to small for my tank.

Ok, just trying to help. The Maxspect is the best bang for the buck right now. I have done a lot of research on non-diy LED fixtures. The 1 watt leds are not nearly as good for growing corals.
What size tank do you have?

I in no means was trying to come across harsh, just trying to clarify. I have a 29 gallon 30 by 12 by 18. I don't have sps i'm really only a zoa guy. I have 4 y-5's above it right now and get 96 watts i'm not really interested in spending 500 $ to actually have more watts, you know? I appreciate it and if you get one soon please feel free to pm and let me know how you like it.

No problem. I didn't know what size tank you had or what you were looking for. I'm going to order on in 3-4 weeks. I'll let you know what I think of it when I get it.
