Lemarck angel QT question?

I bought a very nice heathly female Lamarck angelfish that is 3-4 inches long that the lfs had for 2 months. I have her in a QT tank now settling down. My questions is should I do a copper treatment on her irregardless of how she looks? She is very clean and look good and active. I believe she will handle the copper treatment well as I have done a copper treatment on my swallowtail angel a while back with no trouble.

I would, I prophylactically treat all fish with prazipro and cupramine. If you do this with all your fish before they go into your DT you drastically reduce the chance of disease getting into your DT. But disease can come in on anything, coral, liverock. etc... So in the end it is up to you to develop your own philosophy about how you want to introduce livestock into your DT.

I am going to treat it with copper. Can the Lamarck angel handle copper well as my swallowtail did ? Both fish are Genicanthus.

Should be fine, I would recommend ramping up to the full dose over 4-7 days to give the fish more time to adapt to the medication.

MrTuskfish, what would you suggest in how I would use the Mardel CopperSafe as it is the only copper I have on hands? I also have the Salfert Copper Test Kit. I have never used Cupramine and I would have to order it to get it plus Seachem test kit. I have always had good luck using the CopperSafe.

I haven't used anything but Cupramine in years, someone familiar with it will come along. A Salifert kit will read Cupramine accurately; but is hard to read, IMO.
