Lemonpeel Angelfish!

Will Lemonpeel Angelfish eat macroalgae? I DON'T want them to eat the macroalgae in my tank, and I have heard mixed opinions on whether or not they eat soft coral. What are all your opinions on that?

Mine loves nori (so I assume he would also eat macro algae, if present). He also loves to nip at fleshy LPS and bully anything smaller than him. This is one dwarf angel that definitely belongs in a FOWLR w/larger fish.

I have heard differing opinions, and each fish has it's own temperament. Do you thinks it's possible with the right fish though to keep them in a tank with soft coral, macroalgae and smaller tank mates?

Even though they are a Centropyge species, I personally consider them a medium angel... due to feeding habits and size and aggression. I'd say it's no different than getting a flagfin.

I am not familiar with flag fins! Would you mind explaining?

Ok, I am reading peoples testimonies on Live Aquaria and some say it's not reef-safe, and others say it is. The website itself says with caution! I am starting to think its the kind of fish that you need to take a risk with, and if it works good! If not....

I have kept a lot of different dwarf angels in my reef tank. At last count, four flames, two potters, two coral beauties, a red stripe, and a LemonPeel. All were tolerable except for the LemonPeel which was a huge problem. Buddy of mine has had two with similar experience. Give one a try if you want, but don't say you weren't warned.

+1 There's something about yellow angels and corals. :D

I am starting to think that you just want someone to agree with you... because it seems that you have no intention of taking the advice already offered !

Hmm, I really like the neon, bright yellow color. And I want to have a relatively peaceful "king" of the tank. I am open to suggestions of fish like that! :)

But, there isn't a need to get sarcastic :) I am just trying to set up a good, successful take as everyone else is or has!

What size tank do you have? Foxface and Yellow Tang are both yellow & reef safe. A Hawaiian Yellow Tang is a very bright yellow. Bartlett's Anthias is pink & yellow; Royal Gramma is purple & yellow. This looks like a Lemonpeel when it's a juvenile:

I have a 55 gallon! I did just find the Mimic Lemonpeel Angel as you commented this! Just a bit too big though :) I will look into the others.

That's good news!

I agree... I don't think you should get sarcastic.
I really do hope that you get the tank of your 'dreams'... Asking questions is a good start !

Wow, I guess I sort of walked into that one haha! :headwalls:

Yellow tang would be nice, but it would need a larger system. A 55 is just not large enough for long term. I know a lot of people don't like this idea, but a yellow tang is pretty easy to rehome. You could get a very small one and as it grows, either upgrade your tank or rehome it and start with a small one again

I agree, I am not a fan of rehoming fish, and knowing they are going to get to big when you buy them!

I am getting really stressed trying to decide what fish I want in this tank though! I want one "main" fish that won't eat, kill or harass the other members, and I want it to be a slow moving tank, very peaceful. It is very hard to find fish within my price range and that line up with what I want!
