Here's a front view of the tank

the picture of the cabinet. The sump is not going in here though. it's huge and i can sleep in it! this will probably be a storage for all my junk, or a space for my QT set ups.

i had the cabinet for the sump designed in such a way that the top can be flipped open and so can the front doors. the right side is doorless.

easy maintenance for me

And finally, two representative pictures to show the size of the tank. it's big for my small house :(

a "dog fish" and an A4 molecular genetics lecture notes.

the sump will be arriving tomorrow along with the pipings and some other equipment.

have yet to decide on the lightings yet. will be a slow process. :)

The tank and cabinet just plain beautiful, everything well thought of and planned. I have a similar size tank, standard glass. Good luck with the new addition to your also beautiful home.

nice tank and stand. I am curious as to why you decided to put the sump in a seperate cabinet to the side rather than underneath the display tank. Dont get me wrong its great how you have it set up, especually with the top of the cabinet opening up for easy access to the sump.

oh thanks for the compliment. as for your question, i thought it will be nice and unique to do it lol. and makes maintenance a breeze. also, with a tank width of 3.5 feet, it will be very difficult to crawl into a deep cabinet to do sump maintentance.

imagine having to reach 3.5ft into the cabinet to reach hard to access corners of the sump.

the large unused space in the tank cabinet can then be used for my QT, frag tank, or other smaller experimental fun stuff.

thats a good idea to put the qt tank and frags under, good space saving design you came up with.

can't wait to see this thing get up and running.

Wow, i'm very impressed with your setup...unique. Maintenance is something most of us overlook and when we get out of the "honeymoon" phase with our tanks, it becomes even more of a chore. I think you'll really appreciate your setup years down the road.

I love it! but have a question too, why doorless on the sump side? will it stay that way?

yes it will stay doorless on the side of the sump cabinet. only 1 side.

i dunno.. i guess it just makes maintaining even easier as i can access from all sides. plus, there are no ventilation slits in the cabinet so this doorless side can serve that purpose.

i'm not too sure too why i specified the design to be like this. i guess i kinda forgot..... lol.

but it does not bother me one bit and i kinda like it :P i can see part of the sump from that hole hehe.

yes. my old tank was a 3x2x2 and i posted a thread here before. softy tank.

i decommed it recently. maintaining it was a chore. had to reach into the sump under the main tank. so this was a major planning aspect for me.
