Just purchased a Nikon D90, borrowing a nikon 50mm 1.8 for the weekend to see how i like, but i would like some suggestions on what lens for just taking fish pics along with macro shots of coral?? Also have access to the Nikon 35mm 1.8 that my brother just got.

so far the nikon 50 for fish if workign well going to have to get one, also does anyone have any pics of the macro lens they are using with nikon body??

I bought a few toys for the d90 I like the 50mm 1.8 prime that i borrowed worked great for fish. I also bought the nikon 105mm 2.8 lens and nikon 18-200mm. the 18-200 will just be used outdoors for misc shot along with the 50mm. The 105mm macro as been very tough to use, got some nice shots outside but any tanks shots with the coral didn't come out well. Does anyone have this lens and can posts some pics on there tank??

I almost exclusively use the 105mm 2.8 Macro lens on my tank. A couple of tips - make sure you're as perpendicular as possible to the glass of the tank (you're in trouble if you've got a bowfront or corner tank), use a tripod, turn OFF the VR if you're on a tripod, and if you can, use a remote shutter release so you don't shake the camera. Also, sometimes autofocus doesn't get the focus exactly where you want it, so manual focus might be more efficient for coral macros. Here's a link to some of the shots I took with the 105: http://web1.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1793625
