Lens Porn

I don't usually snap shots of my gear but I was thinking about having photos of them in case I ever sold them (which I probably won't any time soon!) .....not to mention they are beautiful lenses.

so here's some lens/ camera porn :p

DA35 Macro F2.8
-Certainly one of my favorite lenses. It's small and incredibly sharp.

DA40 F2.8
-Great portrait and street lens. It's short lengthy makes it difficult for subjects to know if you are actually shooting them. Also it's incredibly fun and has fast AF

DA10-17 Fish- Eye F3.5-4.5
-Incredibly fun with no limits for creative captures of otherwise normal subjects.

DA*55 F1.4
- I hesitated to purchase this lens due to complaints of horrible BF/FF, and slow AF. I bit the bullet and I'm glad I did. It's one of my new favorite lenses. F 2.0 is exceptional and sharpness is good to 1.4. On the K5 focus is fast and only needed minor AF adjustment.

DA12-24 F4
-This lenses filled my itch between the DA*16-50 and the 10-17 Fisheye. This rectilinear wide ange is sharp...and obviously very wide. It has the same creative fun of the Fisheye and the versatility of the DA*16-50.

DA*16-50 F2.8
-My frist DA* lens, this buddy has tested it's durability through 3 months of rain, dust, waterfalls, and mud in Costa Rica. It's sharp at 2.8 if the focus is nailed just right. My go to lens for everyday life.

DA*50-135 F2.8
- My second DA* lens which also saw the same conditions as my DA*16-50. Sharp at 2.8 and produces lovely bokeh. One of my favorites for portraits and everyday life shooting.

DA*300 F4
-My favorite DA* lens. I started off with a Quantaray 70-300mm a few years ago and noticed that I was always using it at 300mm. I upgraded to the DA 55-300 lens a year later and loved the small size and versatility of that lens. When I came upon a camera store lens clear out I couldn't pass up an opportunity to pick this one up for $1000 new. (there was a DA*200 that I was drooling over too). I sold the 55-300 and haven't looked back. This lens is DA35 macro sharp at F4.

Very nice Tim!!!! I kind of olllllled and ahhhhhed as I read through. I'll throw some up tonight. Where's the flashes????

Ok just looking over the camera and noticed the RAW button. Does it allow you to switch back and forth without going into menus??? If so, that's different.

haha thanks! I left out the flashes...they aren't as pretty! Yeah the Raw button allows you to switch between shooting RAW, JPEG, and RAW+JPEG. It's really handy since you dont have to look away from the viewfinder to change it.

and yes the more camera/lens porn the better!

OK, here's most of my stuff. First, the lens I used to use, (and still do at times), for most of my macros. An old Sigma 28-90.

That with these were always by my side.

Adding this, gives me a little more room and alot more sharpness. A Nikon 105 2.8 macro.

For my only non AI lens a Sigma 28mm 2.8 Mini Wide. A very sharp lens but is all manual. Doesn't matter much and I really like it.

Next the widest zoom I have. There was originally a Nikon 14-24 but didn't like the feel on the zoom on them. It just didn't feel right for a 2 grand lens. I ended up here, (Hi Doug).

Next what I use for a carry lens. Sharp as a tack and super fast. The Nikon 24-70 2.8.

Then the top of the line 70-200 2.8 VR 2. I need to add a tele but am trying to get the 300 f4 first.

I've had one of these tripods in my bag for ballpark 30 years. Whenever I see one out there, I'll pick it up. I've lost the feet on two of them. They dig into my chest when the feet are missing.

Then my sexy flash. Using a Nikon D200 gives me a remote comander built into the camera for this system. If you watch any of the CSI's, this is the system they have on their cameras. The diffusers suck though. I'm working on others. Some use scotch tape. That would screw it up, and I could see pealing tape colecting dirt. I'm way too anal for that.

I just might have to represent Canon here... I'll take some pics when I get a chance...

Nice kit! Maybe by the time I'm as old as Jesse I'll have some nice stuff like that too... :)

PS : I shoot Canon cause no one ever ran from the thundering sounds of your Nikon.

Here's the only one I have a picture of. It's a kit 18-55 that's been reversed on it's mount to make it a 3:1 macro. I reconnected the lens, electrically, so I even have on-camera aperture control (something you don't generally see in a reversed lens).

Yes. I'm a geek.
