Lens rentals...

hobbzz

How do I change this?
Anyone know of any Green Bay/Fox Valley camera shops that rent lenses? I want to take some macro shots but don't want to shell out $700 for a lens that I won't use that often.

Nikon D200. I've seen some places online that I've heard good things about, but I'd prefer to do it locally if possible. Even Milwaukee would be fine.

Camera Corner only sells Canon right? What kind of prices did they quote you?

Arts Camera's in Milwaukee rents out equipment, they have several locations in the Milwaukee area.
Don't know if they will have a lens for you or not but they do have a pretty good selection of rental stuff.

I thought they had both... and if my memory serves me correctly... I was looking at a 700$ lens, and they wanted 225-250 for a week rental...

don't quote me though...

Thanks. I'll check out Arts when I get home.

$225! Even if you're in the ballpark that's rediculous.

Seriously check out some of the cheap screw-on macro lenses on Ebay. I have a set that I picked up for $50 and they do a respectable job.

I bought the 100 mm macro for my canon. I bought it on Mako and Debassers Recomendation. I like it. I'm not sure I would put much stock in those add ons for a DSLR. I'm glad I bought the real thing. I wish I had forked out the extra $'s for a 180mm though instead.

I wouldn't get the add on things, I was just curious. I had one for an old point and shoot and it didn't do anything noticable. I just didn't know they made them for an slr. I'm going to be calling Arts tomorrow since they don't have any rental info on their website. If I had the money I'd definitely get the nikkor 105mm non vr. I used to have the 60mm (used on the first orange flower pic in my red house) and it was awesome. I want to try the extra focal length of the 105mm though.

I use mine on my Canon Digital Rebel. Work perfectly. A true lens would likely be better, but for $50, where are you going to get a decent macro lens?

Check any of my pictures, the majority are taken with the screw-on lenses.
