Leopard Wrasse Still Under Gravel?

It's been two days now and she has not come up from the substrate. Naturally, I'm paranoid that something bad is or has happened. Three tests daily for ammonia spikes and nothing.

Seems very odd cause she looks to be in great shape and has never done this before. Been in the aquarium for almost a year with very peaceful tankmates.

All water parameters ok with no changes in chemistry - pretty stable environment (so far...)

Any thoughts?

It's possible your Leopard Wrasse is still on it's biological time clock. These fish that bury themselves and get shipped from the other side of the world sometimes take awhile to adjust to when it is your night and day. It's completely possible your fish is swimming around at night while your lights are off and your sleeping.

For instance where I live we just had a time change of 1hr, and my Leopard Wrasse who always wakes up right before the lights come on was not up this morning yet because he is an hour behiend the time change

Day three and still no show....very odd.

No amonia readings yet so I still hold out hope even though these fish have a habit of just kicking the bucket!

Did your wrasse re-appear?
I'm getting worried about mine now--had her for 3 weeks and usually gets up like clockwork at the same time each day but today she hasn't appeared.....

She did but it took three (or four - can't remember) days and came out for just an hour then went back under. Looks like a case of pop eye so there was a reason to all this. Two weeks later and she's doing much better.

You start to worry when there no food has been consumed for that long but she maintained a healthy appetite!

Just make sure your water conditions are as best as they can be and everything should be ok. The problem for me was feeding. She would be out while I was at work and would be back under when I came home. Luckily, I had a few days off work so I could feed with vitamin-soaked Mysis. Now she is out swimming and searching for food 10 hours a day and the eye is almost perfect.

These Leopards do strange things at times... don't worry yet.

Glad to hear yours is OK!
Mine has appeared and seems fine---just can't explain why she got up so late today! (and I hadn't forgotten to take into account the fact that our clocks have just gone forwards!)

I am envious. I haven't had a leopard for several years, and it was my favorite fish. So darn hard for them to survive the shipping process!

Yup, everything is good now but I seem to have something in common with your L Wrasse - I was lazy today too!
