lepozi and naso tang?

I know the common rule is to not add two tangs of the same body style or the same genus..
but I was curious what people thought of having say a lepozi, valamingi or a unicorn tang and a blonde naso in the same tank
and thats a naso plus one of the other in the genus not all the above just a naso AND ONE of the others.
I was just curious cause I know while naso's will hold their own they aren't known for being aggressive I feel like it'd be possible but I'm not sure..
just some thoughts I love the elegance of a blonde naso tang, but the lepozi and valamingi are gorgeous
thoughts and experiences would be amazingly appreciated
I do know the lepozi grows amazingly quickly and gets 2 feet in length,
it'd be a 180 gallon tank and the lepozi if it went that way would be a temporary home

Ha two yeah she is trying to get a larger one I have to be the voice of reason......
So what is the verdict on the tang situation I feel like its doable but I want to be sure

Go for it. I had a Vlamingi trio with a blonde naso and never had one problem... I gave my blonde naso to my friend though and the vlamingi trio is about to go into a 3000 g system...

Get them all small

Personally, I am always in favor of introducing fish that do not have to knowingly be re-homed later.

I agree with Steve. However, I would say 80% of hobbyists cannot provide a long term home for the naso genus. So, the solution is to find a bigger home for the fish or don't get them in the first place...but what fun is that? as long as you know what has to happen and your not sticking the naso in a fish bowl... go for it!

Keep in mind that the vast majority of people who buy a fish knowing it must be re-homed (or don't know but soon find out) has no place to re-home it. Most LFS will not take fish that are huge because they cannot sell them and many smart LFS will not take fish back because of the potential for parasites or other problems. So sometimes responsible reefing means not having "your fun" at the cost of a fish's discomfort or that fish causing problems for you. Nasos are generally not aggressive, but they like to swim and many of them do get large. Even smaller species require 10 foot tanks.

well I was just worried about two tangs from the same genus I'd rather not turn my fairly empty large tank into a war zone... (although I know naso's usually don't cause problems)
and no matter how I searched it I couldn't find anything about multiple species of the naso genus in the same tank..
vlamingi or lepozi though?
what do you guys think?

i already checked with the lfs and they said they'd take it no problem I won't get my worth for it by any stretch of the imagination.... I might get half of what I originally paid for the fish who knows might break even

Sounds like the concensus is that from an aggression standpoint, you should be fine as long as introduced together, and both are similar size.

From a space standpoint, this certainly would not work long term. If you are absolutely certain you can re-home these fish, or upgrade then aggression should not be an issue. Keep in mind the opinions regarding aggression are based on "likelihood", however some fish have personalities that differ from the norm.
