*BTW, Jar*Head... How many pyramid butterflies do you have in your tank? I only have 2, but want to get a couple more. I think the large school looks amazing.

On my 210 for the first 8 months of it running i used only 3 400 watt 20k radiums in luminarc reflectors. I really liked it, i didnt like not being able to view my tank for more than 8 hours a day and i decided to put two vhos on icecap ballast to view an extra four hours a day but i turn them off when the halides are on. I will not have to change these bulbs very often at 4 hours a day. I guess maybe every two years. I do think personally the vho's make the coral colors pop more, but that could just be me looking way to much at it.

That is one of the reason why i decided to throw on the VHO so i could view my tank more I will turn it off during the MH hours...

Hello, thank you for the compliment. That is the Hawaiian Bicolor Athias. The Pyramid never touch my corals and they do eat pellets so i feed 3x's daily with pellets and 1 meal of frozen.. As for the background yes that is my paper towel but not for my tank. My tank is acrylic therefore i use the special cloth that i order from an acrylic shop..

I'm going to have to look into that type anthias. I have been wanting a Pyramid too but read some threads about people saying they pick at sps. But it sounds like you are having great luck with them...a lot of them. Where did you get your Pyramids from, I'm also in OC. I use lots of paper towels for my hands arms and test kits and my T-shirt for my acrylic tank. I would like to get one of those special order acrylic clothes. Please let me know where you ordered that from too. Thanks.

Hello, i got most of my Pyramid from Socaltropicalfish. I am not sure why they pick corals but mine they didn't seem to care much for the SPS. They even eat the fuzzy algae from Reef Nutritions.

Hey, are you certain VHO actinics give more color than T5's when used w/ MH?
I'm running 6 400W 10K XM's and was thinking of doing something to get a little more fluorescence/blue in there.

(1)10k XM 250 driven by ARO ballast in a LumenarcIII Reflector. Tank is 36"x36"x31". Not SPS dominated but a 50/50 mix.

Semper Fi! That tank is nice! I only run T5s to extend my viewing period. With the 20k bulbs that I'm running, there's not much my T5s add and I don't notice much of a difference if they are on or not. I don't bother changing them much and the ones in my tank now (blue+ & actinic+) are probably over two years old. Now when I was running 10k XMs, I absolutely needed the supplementation to wash out the yellow.

Great tank Steve 96 x 48 x24 ? that is awsome, 48" is most of other people tank's lenght I think add vho actinics would definitely be better than just halide imo and that what I have on my 150

Rather old thread but I'd figure I would post anyway. I'm looking at converting to MH only, no T5, no LED and no VHO. The plan is to run a 250watt Radium all day and a 400watt XM 10k for 3-4hrs midday. I'm curious how the SPS will respond with only MH all day.
