I noticed it looked a little dark in the FTS back a few pages with all 12 bulbs running and I wanted to see if you thought i would have enough light.
Hey Jason, Obviously I'm not Mike, but when I saw his tank his lights where extremely impressive. My new tank is 36" wide as well, and I've been intrigued by all the sweet T5 tanks around these days, but couldn't imagine a 20" or so fixture outputing sufficient light...boy was I wrong. This thing is bright, super bright. Mikes tank is 26" deep and there are some LPS he was showing me that didn't appreciate that much light on the bottom of the tank! After talking with Mike, I might end up going with a 36"W fixture over my 48"W tank, depending on how much LPS I want to add. You'll have no issues growing SPS on the bottom under a fixture like this.

Thanks Stunreefer, that is what i was wondering i figured the retrofit T-5's with 8x100w should be enough since that is more light than he has but i know the fixture he has is top of the line.
Thanks

Ching - PM box is cleared out. Obviously we won't be able to make it into Bangkok tomorrow. Hopefully the airports will re-open soon and we are still hoping to visit you.

So, if you are replacing your Reeflo for something in-sump...what have you decided upon? I'm very curious because I was thinking of retrofitting a Reeflo INTO my sump because I've been unable to find an in-sump skimmer that is comparable.

Edit: Mike said ATB cone, not KZ cone. =\

Howre they priced, relatively affordable? I want a new skimmer, the octo 250 pro is gonna be sold. Im looking at a BK180, I can get a little discount on it. But if that cone is cheaper and better....

atb or wm cone the way to go. mike was everything okay with your trip and all the attacks? best wishes to you in your travels.

skey - thanks much. Everything is ok, but it looks like it will be an extended trip (Eric & Brandon - I'll be contacting you with details shortly). We were scheduled to fly out tomorrow (Sunday), but have now been rescheduled to fly out on Thursday from Bangkok (if, of course, the airport re-opens).

In the meantime, here are a few preview pics from the awesome diving here in Thailand. I will post a full thread of pics when I return:

Are you back state-side yet? Hopefully all went well. When you get a chance post up some more pictures of your trip, and some tank updates.

Nice diving pics. I can't wait to expand my diving beyond the Carribean.
Questions for mcliffy:
You may have already covered this but how do you like your Vortechs? Where are they placed? Have you ever owned Tunzes? How would you compare the 2? I assume your glass thickness is right @ the .75" cutoff (as mine is) and I was wondering how it faired...
