Let's play guess the color of the anemone again!

My LFS gave me a killer deal on a nem so I decided to pick it up. It's completely bleached, but it was inflated and its mouth was closed.

The LFS didn't know what it is, but I'm fairly certain that I know what it is, based on the puckered mouth, tentacle length and shape, and color of the foot.

It's purple with green tips.

So, let's play guess the ID and the final color!

It's a mag
You really can't confuse them with other anemones (unless they are in a near death state).

I am more curious about what's behind the bleached mag? Looks like a brown mertens or Haddoni? Or just live rock shaped that way?

Other than being severely bleached it looks to be in ok shape, hopefully it will stay that way for you. :thumbsup:

I'm going to guess green tentacles, but this is entirely a guess.

Yes -- I agree with you all that it's a magnifica. The base is either pink or purple. The pointed mouth was a giveaway to me.

It's completely bleached, so I can't even see any hint of color. I yellow one would definitely be cool, but i also wouldn't mind purple with yellow tips or vice versa. I could possibly be green since it does glow a bit under actinics.

It's actually my purple and blue gigantea. When it got sick, it never fully recovered. I'd had it for months now and it's gradually gotten smaller and smaller. Unfortunately, it's unable to eat, so I think it may just wither away and die. This is the second gig that this has happened to where it gets sick from another gig, then slowly gets smaller and smaller. The first one was treated with Cipro, then later with Septra. I think the regimen with Septra was too strong because it quickly died mid-way through treatment.

This purple and blue one was treated with Cipro as well. I have it back in QT with the mag because I don't want it re-infecting my other gigs. It's hard to believe that it's a gig because the tentacles are so short (very haddoni-like) but I know that it's a gig.

Here's what it used to look like:

I like it a lot because it's the first one that I've seen that's purple on the edge and blue in the center. I want to save it, but there's not much else I can do, especially if it doesn't recover from this second round of Cipro.

I'll keep you posted on this one as well as the bleached mag.

What are your plans as to zooxanthellae transplant if any? I'm only assuming since you say it has absolutely no color and is completely bleached. Would this be a case where you feed it tentacles from a healthy donor?
