I am thinking of buying the Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro lens. I am wondering what kind of "non-macro" shots I can get with this lens. With its expense, I want to be able to shoot more than close ups of my tank inhabitants.

Lets see them. Thanks.

Don't know about Canon bu ti was told the nikon 105 macro is one of the sharpest lenses for portrait that nikon ever produced. I alo read somewhere that it is even too sharop for portraits.

The canon 100mm 2.8 is a fantastic lens, it realy should have an L in it's name. Then again it's better it doesn't to keep the price down.

This shot was taken with a rebel and I was just learning. It still looks pretty good except for the back ground .:(

The lens focuses on infinity so you can use it for everyday photography- not just close-ups. Like the Nikon it is extremely sharp and will show every little wrinkle... hence its unpopularity as a portrait lens :p

Here is a couple I took at Chicago bluesfest last week with my sigma 150 2.8 macro lens:

I have a few lenses & my macro is my favorite lens!

I don't have any pics handy, but I have the 100mm f/2.8 and can say that it's a great all around lens and has capabilities well beyond macros. What other lenses do you have?

Here's a quick shot from my macro lens...
Sorry the image is so large - note, no post processing at all.
