Hi Reefhobo...

I never run halides in this tank...so I can´t say if my tank would be better with halides or not....but I´m really happy with leds.

Hails from Brazil

tanks with the diy led on what are you running your leds at? not percentage but at what mill-amp are you running your whites and blues at and how far off the water do you have your leds at, i just want to compare with mine im running nw and rb with some blue leds and just cant get the color out of some of my sps frags and i get no growth. been really thinking about just going to metal halide.

I doubt the no growth is due to LED. I thought the same thing at first. Only Monti and pocci were growing for over 6 months. Not even my green slimer was growing much. Then took bio pellets off and found my refractometer was reading off so salinity was actually 1.030. Now everything is growing. Not saying these are your issues specifically. But LEDs are new and get blamed for a lot of problems.

To answer your question. Most DIY LEDs are rated for 1amp max unless you run XML. I had my RB running around 1amp and my CW running around 350mil amps. 24 CW:24RB, 80 degree lenses at about 12 inches above the water.

I'm not sure how this helps you since
