I honestly don't know that you will see any increase in color, unless it's related to getting better intensity from the LED's if your MH was a bit underpowered for your setup. What I can guarantee from my personal experience is that you won't LOSE color.
I think a lot of this myth comes from people initially switching to LED from some other light source, increasing intensity too quickly, and passing judgement too quickly. Anyone with experience in this hobby knows that the only bad things that happen quickly in reefing are bad things. Anything good takes time, sometimes lots of it.
I have found livestock is SUPER sensitive to the change. I have had corals come from under MH, T5, and even sunlight and all bleach to some extent when first placed under LED. Bleaching obviously equals color loss, but it's only temporary. Once the coral adjusts and comes back 100%, color is just as good as you can get under any other light source.
The main advantage of LED IMO and IME, isn't that it will get you better color. For me it's about tiny and elegant form factor of the fixtures, increased efficiency, long duration between "bulb" replacement, less heat, and most of all the full blown customization potential of an RGB setup allowing for super-realistic and awesome looking sunrise/sunset/mooncycle/weather simulations for your tank.
Totally agree, has been my observation as well.
already posted pics earlier in this thread. Here's a recent vid:
Tank has been running LEDs for almost 3 years.

LED's do work...
Please read sanjays articles:

The is a build thread somewhere on RC with LED SPS system, I'll see if I can find it.
Right, but what he is using for his own tank? What I know is MH 400 watts.... please correct me if I am wrong.
Next month I am going to place an order for the GHL Mitras. I am going full LED. The Mitras "fills" in a lot of the "missing" spectrum; so hopefully I will see good SPS coloration.
After one week of using Mitras, I have seen BETTER coloration with them than with halides or t5. I had AI LEDs before and I agree with you the colors were not as with MH and T5. But with Mitras, I am seeing those colors coming out like wit MH.
Honestly I am seeing some REDS AND VIOLETS I NEVER saw before not even with MH.
Lets please keep this thread to posting photos of SPS LED tanks...there was another LED SPS growth thread that was eventually locked.
I really want to see more photos people; so keep on posting.

Dude in 4 months you have a full tank. In one year I still have a bunch of 1 inch frags.... What kind of par readings. Are you getting?Growth sequence of my tank since adding a Radion when they were released in Early Oct 2011:
