I finally have a camera fast enough to catch this guy in the xenia. Unfortunately she usually beats the front stalks into submission before I can get a really good peeking picture.
By the way this is a great thread to sit and look through.

Greg, the barnacle blennies are TOO COOL!!!! Great shots as always. Do you recommend them as good tank mates with similar needs as others?

This freaked me out, because I never knew that crabs shed their shell. I thought he ate some other crab in the tank that I didn't know about!

This guy is a real character though. He constantly builds up a big wall infront of his hole, then knocks it down again, and repeats this process.

I think he's bored...

thanks :)
my experience is limited to the two i have-- had em about a year now. i had one a few years ago- did great for about 6 months and then disappeared :(
anyhow- they are excellent eaters- lightning quick to dart out and grab bits of food when it floats by. in my opinion they are a great addition to any tank. they would be a target for predatory crabs and mantis shrimp i think, just as any tiny goby would be.
in the area they live there's also a Randall's goby, a Yashe Hashe, and a tiny Two spot blenny- all living in close proximity with no aggression that i've seen. and i watch them a lot :p
