Lets see those Web Cams!!

I have a Canon VB-C50ir camera which is web enabled, but I haven't posted the link until I set up the access restrictions so that you don't pan and catch my wife in her panties. I leave that privilege to myself <grin>. It is a KICK *** camera, with wonderful features and it zooms in close enough that I can inspect individual polyps on sps. It's a heck of a machine. I have a picture of the camera posted on one of the last pages in my build thread (click the red house). I'll post the link to the camera and pwd soon enough.

The VB-C50 has a built in web server and 26x optical zoom. The software is awesome. For example, I have a dozen or so presets and I have pictures taken of each of the presets at regular intervals. It then automatically downloads them to a folder on my computer and I'm going to use the pictures to do time-lapse photography so that you can see my favorite frags grow into huge colonies in a video. The only part of that the software doesn't handle is the making of the video from the stills.

The video is at 30fps and is beautiful. Great camera.

Cheers!

Have you done any of those time lapse videos yet Los? I love the idea of the camera remembering it's position so that you can still use it for regular panning and zooming while not losing your long-term lime lapse ability. My biggest issue with time lapse is that I usually have to sacrifice my camera for the period of the time lapse or else I'd never get it in the same position.

Thanks, Eric. No I haven't put any of them together yet. If you happen to have a recommendation for software to do so, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, Scaryperson27. The pegging and the water change system (which I'll post more details on soon) really make life easier. As far as the accident with the light, that wasn't Sfiligoi's fault. The bracket was something I came up with. I did buy replacement parts for the parts that broke, but they weren't the right parts and they didn't work, so I ended up putting in an Icecap - which worked perfectly. The original problem was my fault though.

By the way, I got the idea to set up the camera after seeing Untamed12's setup. Brad has one of the nicest tanks around.

Very cool, Gardiner. I see that your interests are gadgets; it shows.

Are you using an AquaController? I'd love to set up a webpage like yours. You did a really nice job and I love how you can see the stats from the AC. Nicely done.

Got in now. My son the teenage tech wizard said the dash in the first link made it a non-existent domain. Looks really good.
