wOah, I love the depth of field there. The eyes are a cliche focus point, but this is proof that guideline doesn't always hold true!

Thanks man! That means alot to me coming from you. I always admire your photos. I just bought a Canon 24-105L lens and this was one of the first photos I took with it.

RichK,

Those are some beautiful Dobies and great photos. I love the bokeh on the first two. What camera/lens combo were you using?

Thanks. The first shot is with my D2x, 300 2.8, and the 2.0 TC. Effective focal length of 900mm. The second shot is with my D3 and 200/2. Also, the second shot was taken handheld with a 1/10 of a sec shutter speed with VR on.

That's some reach! At the resolution shown here it looks like you're still getting good sharpness with the 2.0 TC. Are you pretty happy with the full res versions as well?

I have printed 16x20's of shots with the 300/2.0TC combo from both the D2x and D3. They look fantastic. As long as I keep the setup rock steady, shots are tack sharp. I use a Gitzo tripod and RRS ballhead or wimberly when shooting "long".
