EMG, what kind of mantis is in there? I'd like to have a fish in with my peacock but don't want the fish or the mantis to be stressed b/c of the other's presence. So far, I don't have the mantis OR the fish, but hoping to pick up the mantis this week.

Tank looks GREAT EMG! Hope my 29 looks as good once I have it set up. My peacock shrimp gets cooler every day. Took her no time to realize Lisa=food. Whenever she sees me she comes out to see if any food is coming.

Its a 2" N. Wenn ...

Im 99% sure the fish are in no danger.....my mantis has plenty of stuff to eat in there but he is so picky he will actually hold out for small blue hermits or ghost shrimp....He even ignores the peppermint shrimp in there as well as all the small snails. I tried to give him a large freshly killed guppy and the little bastard picked it up and carried it to the other side of the tank where he literally threw it out. I was like ***? I threw in some ghost shrimp and he immediately nailed them. I think he is just a high maintenance mantis.......
Its nice to have a setup like this with a Mantis and some fish. Once in a while the mantis comes out and swims about the tank but the fish could care less and neither could the mantis.

As far as having fish with your peacock.... no way....they eat everything. I've even seen them kill goldfish at the LFS.

LisaD...thanks for the compliments and let me know when your mantids arrive.....

:bum:

EMG, they were waiting on heat packs, so I told him I would ship a foam box and heat packs and he can ship Monday. Seriously considering three. The one you picked out for me is on hold. I have enough small tanks to hold them. :)

That peacock I got is soooo cool, she shows new interesting behaviors every day. I am so hooked on these shrimp. The one I have is pretty fearless, she comes out a lot.

The white N. Wenn is really pimp :bum: You will like him.

this is my first mantis. i have only had it for week. i also have a 135 gallon reef tank, but i think its much more interesting to watch the mantis tank than my reef.

Come on guys...only two people posted pics of their mantis tanks......... POST UP!!!!!!!!:mad2:

Peacock Mantis

Here is a recent shot of mine. Its not my best, I will be posting a better one soon. But this is the cave I built for Boris. I think he likes it, its been a work in progress. I have been buying numerous pieces of tonga to give it a more exotic appearance, and help with detri-levels. His only roomate is a nice size knobby starfish. Only had one skrimish- and it was the starfish's fault trying to enter Boris front door... and of course the hundreds of copes and ampipods!

Here are my 2 Mantis tanks. Sorry for the blurry picture of the first one. Just got my new digital camera and I have not gotten a tripod for it yet.
