I have a 15 gallon tank that took a bunch of SPS from when I was having problems with my other system.

What I would like to see is pictures of your SPS nanos, and spec lists, equipment, filtration, lighting, etc. This will give me an idea of if I am doing the right thing with my 15.

Ill show ya whiskey, its a pretty large nano, I these are pics right after I set it up. It has been up for a week without any problems.
I only have 6 sps of right now, but I am ordering some from reefer madness and my brother is giving me some.
As for tank specks,
40 breeder
38 sump/fuge
ccs 125
mag 7 through scwd
eshopps overflow
1 250W mh, 2 65W pc actinics
and Im soon to but 2 seio m820's

Does this help, I really like sps, but still will have some lps and softies.

Very nice tank, especially for being so new!

You say that you only have one halide (that is covering a 36" tank), how would you say the coverage is?

How far off the water is your bulb?

I see some window screen in your hood pic, is that to make the light less intense in the middle and even it out? Or is it for acclamation?

How do you deal with cooling?

How do you deal with top off and CA/ALK supplementation.

This tank I have seen before, but I forgot it was a nano. It seems you have your coral lighting problem under control, it also looks like you added sand. Did you add the sand for a reason other than the look?

How do you deal with CA/ALK supplementation?

How do you run your skimmer? Is it set really wet? Or rather dry?

How far is your bulb off the water?

Excellent work! Your setup is nearly exactly like mine! I have a bunch of questions for you.

How long has your system been setup?

How do you run your skimmer it? Do you have color to your skimate and how much? About how much skimate would you say you get in a week?

How far off the water is your bulb? What is your photo-period?

How do you deal with top-off?

How do you deal with CA/ALK supplementation?

How many fish do you have in there? How long have they been in the tank?

Do you get any detritus that builds up anywhere? How often do you siphon to remove it?

I added sand because the tank was too sterile. There wasn't enough nutrience in the water and the SPS where literally starving. Another thing that I am doing is spot feeding DT's Oyster Eggs daily to each individual coral. This seems to increas the amount of Polyp Extention. I strongly suggest feeding the Eggs. :D

I am doseing Ocean's Blend 2 Part Ca/Alk and pH daily, 6 mL each.

I run the skimmer Wet. My thinking is by doing that, I can get the nasty gunk out of the water before it builds up and is able to be skimmed dry.

The bulb it self is 12" off the surface of the water.

Anything else?

The tank has been set up for close to 5 months.

I run the skimmer wet and i usually fill the collection cup up a little more than half way every week. The skimate is usually light brown (tea colored).

The bulb is 12 inches from the water and i leave it on for 10 hours a day.

As far as top off i have a float switch in the sump connected to a aqualifter that pumps water from a gallon bucket into the tank. I lose about a gallon of water every 2 days.

Right now weekly waterchanges are keeping the calcium and alk pretty steady but if it becomes a problem as i add more sps i'll probaly try one of the two parts.

There are two fish in the tank, a False Prec and a Psudochromis Fridmani. I may add one more later down the road.

Detritus isnt really a problem. I get some in the crack between the tank and the starboad that i siphon out weekly.

Thanks Travis :D. I'm having a ruff time getting the hang of this forum, it doesn't seem to work like other parts of this board.

When you say you spot feed your coral, do you cover the coral with something to keep the food near it like some people do with clams? Or do you spray the food in their general vicinity?

Do you siphon the sand regularly? Do you think the sand helped your problem?

When I say spot feed I mean that I spray food at them with a turkey baster. You have to turn off ALL of the pumps so that they can catch the food. That ensures each one gets a good amount of food. If I had alot of flow all around the tank, I could just dump it in, but I don't, so some of the might not get any food at all.

I don't touch the sand bed, I let it do it's thing. I think that adding sand definantly helped me out in my situation.

Your rock looks very clean, did you cook it?

You also run your MH 12 inches from the water, have you tried it lower? How did you come to the conclusion that 12 inches was best?

So your flow keeps your tank perty clean then eh? I am still playing with mine, but I think I about have it.

You skim darker then I, and have more fish (I don't have any right now), but I didn't cook, my rock so it is still shedding a bit. It is good to know that skimming darker will still remove the nasties from my system.
