Hi everyone!
Question, where are you getting the Acetate at (for dosing)?
Thanks,
James

How's your parameters doing? I tried to post earlier but it wouldn't take it. What kind of spot are you seeing?

I've not tested yet, because I don't want to jinx it.I did take a picture of the coral.

Today, I noticed the tips of one Green Slimer were burned. And a few tips on another less than happy montipora. Only two corals out of my entire reef, but I'm studying them all extra closely while dosing.
I dosed 2.5 ml today; tomorrow I'll test and see what my tank's parameters are. I may cut back on the dosage, but I'm unsure because I don't want to jump the gun either direction.

Hi Mark,
What is your alkalinity?

I have not had any tips burning or other coral discolorations in the 3 weeks of dosing (I'm up to 2mL of vodka, 1/2tbsp of sugar, and maybe 4mL vinegar mixed into kalkwasser topoff).
My only complaint is that I'm DEFINITELY seeing more red slime algae. It's now on my frag rack as well as showing up in some places in the rock work. It HAS to be feeding off the VSV...
Of 21 cyanobacterial strains isolated from pulp and paper waste-treatment systems located in 4 countries, all except one were capable of glucose uptake in the light, and 19 also showed uptake in the dark. In the 6 species tested, glucose and acetate addition stimulated growth in low light in all except one species.

Also as an aside, my Alk is measuring 11 now, where it's always hovered in the 6-7dkh range. I'm guessing it has to do with the other thread that was on here about the alk readings being off because of the increased carbon in the water? I have not seen anyone discuss or mention it here, but it seemed to be a reality in the other thread. Any thoughts?

According to his website it jumps around but runs between 8-10dkh. I think its a bit high for what seems to work with vodka dosing.
