With my old camera, it'd taken all night to shoot that well! I was acutally able to count the hairs in front of Tammy's face! (before photo bucket)

Mike, I see what you mean, it's the camera.

Jason

Thanks Lisa. I drove my wife nuts this weekend, taking pictures of just about everything in the house.

Hey, TJ, Mike and Jessica, did you buy, or use any of the reflection shields that go on the end of your lens?
saw them on Ebay for like 20$ and was wondering if it is a must have item, or can I live with out.

and what is a reverse macro lens anyway? ...a telephoto?

Jason

nope, I dont have or know what a reflection shield is. I have hoods for some of my lenses, but those are only for shooting in the sun(reduces flare).

You can get UV filters for your lens. I put these on all of my expensive lenses, basically to protect the glass on the lens from scratches. They are about $50-$100 depending on quality.

I'm not sure what a reverse macro is, can you be more specific?

Not sure if that's what I have are called but like TJ says they are hoods that go on the end and they are supposed to keep unwanted light from getting in. Not sure what the reverse macro is.

I thought that was our job  . (drivin the wife nuts)

On the side of each for the lens boxes, optional accessories listed are the hoods and an additional lens... 58mm? for the 17-85mm. I was on ebay, and noticed something called a reverse Macro. Didn't know what that was.

Mako, what was the brand name on your camera bag? I have made my rounds to every place in Green Bay, and I'm just not impressed.

Is there any place besides (not in any order): Radio Shak, Walmart, Shopko, Kohls, Circuit City, Best Buy, Camera Corner, or Kmart, Office Max, and Office Depot..... that I should try. I have this problem everytime I buy a camera.

Jason

Jason, mine is a Canon bag I got it for Christmas so I dn't know what she paid for it but it could of been way more than I would of paid.

Jason,

I have this shoulder bag, and I really like it since I can fit the camera, 2 lenses and a flash inside. Lowepro is a very good company. It was $20-25 at Best Buy.

Also, I have a photography backback from Lowepro. I consider one of these a must for hiking/biking. Plus, it can carry two very large lenses as well as the camera. I can fit all of my lenses in this well padded backpack.

I paid about $60 for the backpack. Honestly, I use the backpack more than the shoulder bag. The backpack also has an attachment for my tripod.

Which lenses did you purchase? I forgot. The 58mm which is written on the box is the thread size of that particular lens. For instance, if you wanted to buy a polarizer for your lens, or a UV filter, you would need a 58mm filter which screws onto the end of your lens.

Make sure you buy filters for your lenses!

Tj, I got the 70-300mm is and the 17-85mm IS - I have not played with the 70-300 yet though. I have been planning my next round of accessories though.

Thanks for the recomendations.

FWIW. I purchased an extra battery for my 20D today in Ebay. I found it cheaper to buy a 2 pack... for about 16$. after I placed the order I doubted that I will need 3 batteries though. Soooo if someone else is interested in splitting them with me, one is available, cost is 8$ with shipping. If not, oh well. this was the Bp-511.

Pm if interested.
