Lettuce Nudibranch - Bryopsis

cdamiano

I like Fuzzy Sticks
I have a bit of Bryopsis that I am battling in my tank and heard that Lettuce Nudibranch may take a liking to it. Anyone know where I can get some of these? I checked Pets Warehouse and Suffolk County Fish and Reef and they don't have them.

If anyone knows of any place to get these, please let me know. Also, if you know of anything else that eats this stuff, let me know.

Thanks!

Chris:

I have a big bottle of Kent Tech-M if you want to use some.

I never got together with you for the kenya tree you have, so if you are around this weekend, let me know and you can come by. I should be here all weekend and will be checking e-mail for a PM all weekend.

And, yes, you can have that piece I got at the LIRA BBQ - it doesn't fit in too well in my tank, so that works.

Let me know.

Boosting your PH to 8.6 and keeping it steady there will kill off that bryopsis.
You could also try a Sea Hare.

I hadn't heard of the Tech-M method. Sounds like quite a few people on that thread have had success with it. Thanks Jdieck.

I tried a Sea Hare. He ate a little and then keeled over the next day. Must be some strong Bryopsis :)

Dave - I will send you a PM

Nothing, and I mean nothing eats Bryopsis. Ive tried Lettuce Nudibranchs, Sea Hares, Turbo Snails, Hermits and Emerald Crabs and an Algae Blenny. They all starved because I didnt have any other algae for them to eat. Even when faced with starvation, they didnt eat it.

I raised my Mg levels to 1600 with Seachem Reef Advantage Magnesium as per the above link and it was all gone in a week. Its been a few months now and still no signs of Bryopsis but I try to keep my Mg levels perfect which makes the calicum and alkalinity easier to keep where you want them.
