Levamisole In-Tank Treatment for AEFW

has anyone seen the flatworms peal off and start convulsing around as if they were being dipped, or like the serpent stars do?

Fw is very small. Inside the tank where fish are swimming around and scared when Levi being added, flow is turbulent, it is very hard to detect that tiny little thing on the coral itself, than seeing this little thing peeled off and convulted like pods which is much larger in size. I doubt any one can or lucky enough to witness this. :)

James404, how many treatments did you do? I'm trying to debate whether or not I wanna do the 6th treatment this Friday or not. I'm leaning towards no as I haven't seen any flatworms in a long time now.

Would you rather do one more (I'd say do three more personally), or potentially do it again if they make a comeback? :uzi:

I did a total of 4 treatments but only with the vermisol. Still have a full pack of prohibit I haven't used yet.

if u can see them while blowing them off with a turkey baster then u should be able to see them come off the coral they are mostly affecting.

I used PROHIBIT...Dead fish was new addition. he is only one day old. I got it on sale....I should not have got it...I think your dose is about 5.5gram/300gal....

Correct me if I am wrong about your dosage...

Sounds accurate. My First dose pretty much all my fish hid for about a day and a half. Made me a bit nervous. Second dose less than half of my fish went hiding and only for a day. I dosed the same amount (9gm) of Prohibit both times. No AEFW seen lately.

guys,
so ,what is the verdict on time between dosing? 5,6,7 days a part?

mike

I did 7 days for both tanks. I think it should be cut down to 6 or 5 as I had residual worms in the QT show up. But none in the display (due to having shrimp, and wrasses)

I've poked my head into this a few times. Is there like a wrap up at this point for those of us who haven't been apart of the entire discussion. I'd really like to give this a go as I'm not having the best results with basting.

When I dosed, the worms peeled off and filled the water column. They were definitely dead and floating around. Before treatment when I basted the corals, I can see the worms swimming around as they flew off the corals. When treating, they were floating dead.

thank you vlad...

hows ur system, clean?. you didnt see any FW?

mike

So far so good. I only did 3 treatments, but like I mentioned before, I have multiple wrasses and shrimp that would pick on the corals or the sand in case there were twitching FWs around. I am going to wait and check the corals before proceeding with another treatment.

But my QT definitely needs a few more. I saw some new bites, and had a few monti eggs hatch. I am going to up to dose to make sure these guys die :)

Vlad,
what shrips are you refering to? do you really believe that wrasses and shrips eat them of the corals?

m

right, i have see on zeo-site info regarding camel shrips..i have two cleanr shrips and they only clean my tangs:))

Yeah camel shrimp work but you cant add them to your tank , you have to have a QT tank. Take the infested coral and place it in QT tank for 20 to 30min and thay will eat all the AEFW and Eggs but if you leave it in there longer thay will eat the sps.

i just got my levamisole concentrate which states it is 99.5% levamisole hydrochloride which is equivilent to 85% levamisole.

I am correct to assume the recipe would be 5.9gms to 300 gal?

thanks
Ryan
