leveling tank...

hello,

i have a 50g that i am mounting on an existing counter. i made a 2 x 4 base to raise it up a little. i placed the base on the counter, and discovered the end of the counter dives. in the 3' of the base, it drops about an 1/8".

so... i was wondering if anyone would have any advise for leveling the 2 x 4 base and ultimately the tank?

i thought about the 3/4" rubber waffle isolation pads. not sure if that would be enough, or if i would have to plane the base or go another route.

thoughts???

I would be careful putting that much weight on a counter as well. You'll have around 400 pounds on it. I have seen videos/pictures of people kitchen cabinets come crashing down with tanks on them.

i shimmed it with some wood. thanks!

i thought about the weight and have reinforced it quite well. i seriously doubt this will come crashing down :) i am actually adding an additional brace in the front middle once the sump is in place and i'm happy with everything. thanks though!

it is indeed the counter that was sloped. the last 18" dives about 1/8". i never even noticed until i put the bracing on it.

i have also installed a few extra braces since the pic i posted above. it is very secure :)
