LF breeding pairs

The wife just gave me the ok for another small tank! I'm looking to get a pair of breeding fish and give raising fish a shot. My plan is to get roughly a 29 gallon tank (petco has their annual sale now). I have a breeding pair of ocellaris clowns, so I don't need a pair of those. I was thinking about trying to breed gold striped maroons, skunk clowns, some type of goby, or maybe bangaii cardinals.

If anyone has a pair they are looking to get rid, or know where to acquire any of these, I would appreciate it.

Ahh man if only you asked two months ago i had a breeding pair of gold stripe maroons they were wicked mean tho

One of my buddies wanted to try an attempt at breeding them so i sent them his way. I think they ended up killing his occelaris clown in like 2 days, they were MEAN!

Dude scratch the smaller tank and get one big one instead of three smalls! But if you insist I have a 55 that I want to down grade to a 20-29 for a qt, and of topic I picked up a 1.5 for my desk thinking of trying a tiny salt with maybe a yuma and some of those green palys

I'd like to go bigger, but I can't drop the money for a 180 or 240 like I'd want. Considering the cost of the tank and lighting, I just couldn't afford it. I plan on getting a 29g and putting it in the basement on the tv stand (we just re-carpeted the floor down there). That, or put it upstairs in the living room. I want to try breeding something else too. Maybe recoup some of the money I'm putting into all the tanks.

yea all petcos are having tht deal acdraindrps
and i currently have of maroons but it take a while for them to start breeding either way

I'm definitely going to get another tank. I'm thinking a 29, but may pick up another 10 for culturing rotifers or hopefully more clowns and whatever else I can.

On a side note... if anyone has any breeding fish and they don't have the time/resources to raise the fry, I'd be willing to pick up the babies and give raising them a shot.

My Black O's recfently took to the nem (which is huge now) and I am anxious to see eggs on the ledge behind where the nem is, if it happens before I am ready theyre yours.

excellent news about the BTA hosting the clowns. Raising some black Ocellaris would be nice. Definitely watch out for eggs.

my black o pair has been at it for over a year. lots of twitchin,no eggs yet. i'd love to see somebody make a profit from breeding. my understanding is that it almost never occurs.

my understanding is that it almost never occurs.

If a pair is kept under the correct circumstances, pairs can breed as often as every two weeks, for up to eleven months out of the year.

If yours aren't breeding I would focus on feeding them more, as well as different foods. Also try and remove any competitors from a breeding tank. If a pair has to focus on defending a nesting area more than actually laying eggs, there can be a problem.

With proper feeding and water quality, clownish do it (no pun intended) all the time.

Yeah, I had a couple mishaps with my tank and my clowns stopped spawning. I've recently been feeding them more and different foods. They've been displaying mating behavior, so hopefully they will start again soon. Once you get the tanks, phyto, rotifers, and bulk BBS, there doesn't seem much of a need to buy anything else.
