currently have a mag drive 12 pump, too loud, getting annoyed. thats what i get for trying to save a buck.

I have been told by other reefers that a jebao dc pump is a quiet pump. I have ordered one and am willing to try it. It is cheaper than any pump I have bought and the speed is adjustable. I ordered a jebao dc 6000 that is rated for 1585gph and only cost $86 on amazon.

Any of the dc pumps will be pretty quiet. The smaller ones like dc4000, dc6000, is almost silent. The eheims are quiet too, if u put a rubber pad under them. Also any of the askoll based block pumps like the airstar or red dragon are quiet too, even the cheaper laguna alternative. Remember any pump that's stronger than 1kgph even the good ones, will make some kind of noise, good smaller pumps under 1kgph will usually be almost silent.

i have a dc9000 in my oceanic 70 tech and i cna't hear a thing except hte return water noise.

I have 3 DC's in various sizes, but I'd try a laguna max-flow as my next pump. If/When something fails the laguna has a 3 year warranty and a better supply chain. Plus all the big dollar pumps are laguna customs.

Would be great if people also posted the length of time in which their jebao has been continuously runned. I think the thing everyone loves about ehiem is that it is a known quantity. I have to say tho, those Jebao's are pretty cheap!

2+ years on a jebao dc 12000. Way quieter than my skimmer... Cones co3... Highly recommended. I had a Laguna and a Poseidon psi before. The jebao is quieter and way more efficient.

went with the jebao dc 9000. much quieter, i only run it on 2 dots of power out of 6, and it has a faint high pitched whir. very quiet. also replaced my euroreef skimmer with a reef octopus, the sound difference overall is awesome.
