I'm going to be visiting the in-laws this week and was wondering if there are any must see fish stores in the area. I'm staying in Cranberry and the in-laws are down near McKeesport.

Thanks!

Here is my list based on distance/time from Cranberry:

Aquaworld on Rt 65, 20 minutes south of Cranberry
Seahorse on Rt 8, 20 minutes East
Elmer's Aquarium on Rt 22, 35 minutes East
Wet Pet's on Rt 19, 45 minutes South

If you are looking for coral, head to Aquaworld - great selection and reasonable prices.

If you are looking for fish, head to Wet Pets - a bit pricey but a huge selection of rare fish.

Thanks for all the info! I was able to check out Aquaworld last night, Seahorse and Wet Pets today.

Aquaworld - I pretty much agree with the other thread, really nice stuff, large store, but dirty!

Wet Pets - WOW! extremely nice fish, mediocre coral. I spoke with Brian and he indicated that they were low on stock because of not ordering during the holiday week. The fish tanks were still packed with stuff we just don't get in west Michigan.

Seahorse - pretty typical of the better fish stores around my area. He is expecting a big order in tonight, so maybe I'll back out there tomorrow.

I was able to visit Elmer's once before. Seemed like a decent store. Hopefully I'll make it out that way later in the week.

Any other good stores? Maybe a bit further away?

Again, thank you for all the advice!

Aquaworld is supposed to get a shipment of ORA coral in tomorrow.

That is pretty much it. I would check out Salty Critter in Cleveland or Phishy Business in Columbus if your travels back home take you near any of those cities. Those are the nicest stores I have ever been to.

Elmers has gotten a lot better recently...so depending on how long its been since you've been there, they actually have a lot of decent stuff right now, and IMO the best balance of selection and cost. The one problem I have with Aquaworld was how they kept their reptiles. As one who believes that our responsibility is to be responsible, I have a hard time patronizing a store that keeps such dismal conditions for those particular animals. If you're willing to overlook that, it was a very impressive store for corals and frags. Guess I just wish they'd stick to their namesake if they're not going to care for the reptiles properly.
