Moving Out
Pet World Wharehouse on HWY100. Had a sweet powder blue tang & with 25% off.
Pet World Wharehouse on 27th street had a sweet kole tang & 25% off.
Wish I had a bigger tank.

I have found powder blues to be cheaper at Hoffers believe it or not. I know I was amazed. I'm starting to like the way Aqua exhabits on 3rd street is starting to look. I just wish they'd get more coral and put them in a tank. Still kind of expenisive for corals though.

Fish factory is waaaaaayy over priced they wanted close to $200 for a powder blue tang. Plus they sell salt water rays as freshwater rays. Not good business in my eyes. Everything seems over priced there. My question is how do they stay in business???

ya but i would go there before aqua EX downtown the water QC is sooo bad it looks like theres ich in there tanks and all the fish are beat up

Last time I was at Aquatic Exhibits downtown, they kept most of their salt water fish only tanks at 1.014 SG. Same water that those big sharks are in.

ok so they keep low salt but just look at the tanks . and all the plumbing is all rusting now . there corals look like there about to die

I dont mind aqua exhibits. Not a pretty store but they do have a gaurantee on saltwater fish. (3 days if im not mistaken). IMO the only petworld worth going to is the one on hwy 100. Other than that theres petstuff in westbend that has a decent amount of saltwater fish that are reasonably priced and healthy.

As far as corals are concerned i have yet to find a store around here with anything worth buying that isnt godly overpriced.

Never been to petstuff before. I know coral coral is a good store to hit. except the have been getting kind of pricey or maybe it's just my taste.

Coral Corner has to be my favorite in the South Eastern Wisconsin area.
With a close to $1000 rent & a $1000 electric bill, they have some overhead. I'm glad they haven't closed up.
If you don't like the price, don't be afraid to ask for a lower one. The worst they can say is no.

Actually those costs are definatly not on the high end for a pet store. Now don't forget labor, as well as maintanance charges from the landlord.

When I had my little shop the average monthly overhead was over $5,000 per month.

Here's another vote for Pet Stuff in West Bend!

Talk to Dustin there. They are very knowledgable and seem to have good selection of fish and prices seem fair.

How far is West Bend from Oak Creek?

So is Aquatics on Hwy 100 closed for awhile?

West Bend is about the same distance as O'Hare, but straight north.

I was at Aquatics on hwy 100 a few days ago. All of their 100gal saltwater fish only tanks were tore down. Looks like they are doing some mtc. They still had the small reef tank fish, & the coral tanks.
They had a really cool peppermint hogfish. Looks like a wrasse & labled as a peppermint wrasse with a 12cm max size. Stays small for a hogfish, but maybe questionable around shrimp.

I find myself getting a little angry when I stop in Fish Factory or Aqua Exibits. Last time I was at Fish Factory they had about 20 flame angels and 20 moorish idols in one of their big tanks and I just wanted to scream at them. They also regularly put decent size fish in those tiny little cubes (2 groupers last time).

Aqua Exibits is just a nasty place. You can tell they could care less about the wellfare of the fish or what type of fish they bring in. I don't know how they stay in business, they must lose several hundred in saltwater fish every week.

I've actually come to appreciate Aquatics Unlimited. Their drygoods are pricey, but it's a nice store and there are a good amount of people there with some knowledge. They also don't bring in a lot of doomed fish species and the prices on their fish are actually quite a bit cheaper than Pet World down the street.
