lfs sucks!!!

I was just at my lfs to see about getting a yellow watchman goby and a pistol shrimp. I didn't see any in their tanks, but the owner said that he had one. One of the staff moved a rock from the one tank and he was underneath the rock. They bagged him and I looked him over and the one side of his face was torn!!! She said he supposed to look like that!!!:lol: I told her I didn't want the fish and she dumped the fish back in the tank and went over to the owner and seemed like she making rude comments to the owner about me. She didn't ask if I wanted anything else and continued about her business. I think I am finished going there.

Since this is only lfs store in my area, other than Petco, I think I am going to pursue buying my fish online. I was considering reefhotspot.com. Has anyone ordered from there before? Any other online places anyone would recommend to buy from?
 
Well yeah they made rude comments about you, after all you didn't give them your money. You're just a nobody who doesn't really know what you want or know anything about fish in general and wouldn't reconigze a torn fish face if you saw it, LOL!!! Gotta love those LFS's. If you have a local fish club, be sure to let them know things like this. If we don't inform the consumers on certain store practices, than they'll only continue in the future and screw over some poor newbie later on.

I have a few salt only LFS near me. Other than one of them tring to sell me a yellow tang, I haven't had a problem.(I have a 55 gal) There is a local mom and pop shop that has all kinds of animals that are extremely expensive and have careless employees. I'm talking expensive like $105 for a bucket of RC. I don't shop there at all cause of prices. If I were you I would steer clear of that store. Also I have never ordered from reefhotspot but have heard good things. FWIW I order lots of my online stuff from liveaquaria.com.
 
Liveaquaria.com, and pacificaquaculture.com are both great.

To ease shipping costs get several people to buy with you.

You can order online also from Premium Aquatics. Their site is www. premiumaquatics.com. Luckily, they are local for us but I know they equally great for online orders. They're the best!
 
Did the owner know that the fish was injured? There's a number of poor LFS, but I have been surprised a couple of times when I have talked to current employees/owners/managers of stores about an issue.
 
I have had the best experiece with liveaquaria.com, I ordered many things in different ocatioins and they all are well packaged and arrive alive. :)

I would think so!!! He left after he told his employee where the watchman goby was. One of the staff went over to him after we told her to put the fish back.
 
I've received top notch stuff from both marindepotlive.com and the aforementioned liveaquaria.com. Never a bad experience with either after many different shipments.
 
I used to live right by ReefHotSpot and went in the store right after they first opened. Not sure about their mailorder service, but the guy was really nice and had a good holding system up and running. He had some spectacular "safety orange" mushrooms I wish I wouldn't have had to give away. Apart from that, the only place I've ever mailordered from was Liveaquaria.com. They're on the ball and have an excellent, hassle free customer service department. Their guarantee is for real.
 
I haven't listed a link before, but I just tried it from the www part on another tab and it did work. Anyone else want to try and let me know what I'm doing wrong?
 
If that's how they operate, then i def. would not give them any of my money. That sucks being it's the only LFS in your area though.
