Largest selection of tanks and stands is Pet Mart and the prices are the best for those things

They are supposed to be having a tank sale this weekend. You are supposed to get 40 percent off or something. I drove by today and they had a tent out there and all that stuff. They are doin it in the Tampa store and St. Pete store.

I'll agree with tank selection, prices are a joke...highly inflated. They offer a "discount" if you buy in pre determined increments, but even with the discount, it's usually more than retail just about anywhere else... I would suggest Exotic Aquatics (Dunedin) and Marine Warehouse in Tampa. At the least they don't try fool you with phony discounts or really stick it to you if you dont join their WOM club. If you'd like specific examples...I'll be more than happy to oblige....
You Right HotReefer. I just came home from St.pete loacation Of Petmart. Large tank sale and the tanks are not dirty dirt cheap but the sale is 40% Back so whatever you spend on a tank, stand, or light you get 40% back on a gift card. You cant beat that for someone doing a new setup or upgrading to a light. danner pumps, ESU, Frozen San Fran Bay and a bunch more I cant remeber is also on sale. They have all this stuff on the web site www.pet-mart.com

I bought a 90 gallon pre drilled tank, stand and custom 17 inch hood this April. I think I paid between $500-$600 for everything and cause I was a WOM member I earned enough points for like $50 in credit just off that purchase.
Being a WOM member is not really a big hassle you sign up it 2 minutes, it does not cost anything, if you refer somebody they give you a gift certificate, you earn credit every time you buy. Complaining about that is like winning the lottery and complaining you had to spend a $1 on the ticket.
I am sure I will draw the wrath of the Nazi youth for this post because saying something positive about Pet Mart is some sort of blasphemy, but so be it.

Frodo, you are correct about the wom card offers ect, but the thing is that everyone here has a reason for not liking petmart. Yes petmart is very cool when you first find out about all these deals, but if you shop around you'll see that other LFS carry the same fish for a price that is cheaper then petmart, or if its not cheaper it's alot healthier. I don't think everyone on the forum is out to get Petmart, for example, FAOIS has a kinda wierd reputation as well, because they have a great selecton of livestock and they have very decent prices, but john doesnt have that great of customer service, but he trys to help people regardless. Petmart on the other hand, is run by one of the worst owners that could ever run a buisness (yes i know he must be doing something right if he's had a company for 20 years) but the thing is that his employee's were great, but the owner himself is a paranoid guy who thinks everyone is trying to destroy him. and people see that paranoia as well as his rude tone and so we either get turned away by that, or we get banned because he doesnt like you. And to top it off, i would always suggest doing your research before buying anything from there cause the sales associates know NOTHING about this hobby! (except one or two)

We might have to agree to disagree with each other on this one. Nick has always been real nice to me everytime I have come in there. The advice I have recieved from them has been good but I usually know what I want and have researched it before I go in but I do that before I buy anything anywhere. I would still say there prices are the best but if everybody felt the same as I do they would have no competition. I also have had resonable success with most of the fish I have bought there and so has my friends who have bought there I am sure others on this board will tell me about there own experience or that of a friends being bad but I have been going there for years and loved hope to do so for many more.
I used to go to this place in Daytona Beach growing up called Rick's Aqurium "and it was exactly like a FAOIS or a Finz very clean, nice inventory, knowledgeable owner but my stuff kept dying and now I pay less and my stuff lives.

.........these awful threads make me want to try out pet mart...so far people supporting them have been polite and much opposite the other way. Incentives are great even if it is marked up the rest of the time...that's why I buy things at Publix more when it is buy 1 get 1 free.

must be I'm letting my frustrations out on you guys after being in a house with 3 little ones for 2 months.... I just wish you guys would all lighten up. If you don't like a store, just say so and move on. I don't think anything productive happens with this arguing. But then again...if I don't like this...I should just move on too....

No offense teach but that 2 for 1 at Publix is a rip off. Just trying to help. but I do go there from time because my head would explode if I had to deal with Walmart more than once a week.
