Life after bleaching?

I changed bulbs and had one acan echinata and a micro bleach out on me. So far (several weeks) there's been no tissue recession, but the polyps are pretty much white still with maybe a slight bit of color on some of the edges. What do you think the chances are of the symbiotic algae growing back in versus losing the whole/part of the piece? Anyone had an LPS recover from bleaching?

feed them. all my echinos bleach out with i put them under T5HO in a 10" tank. after 2 weeks feeding, most of them recover. i did lost some of them, but most of them made the full recover in 1 month.
good luck

When I bought my elegance 4 months ago, he was mostly bleached (and therefore a good deal). With nursing he has come back nicely, but still has some sections where he is bleached.

Sometimes it just takes a bit of time.

i gotta worry about this tomrow. i am switching from 65w of pc over my 20H, to 150w of MH. i dont no what i should do so they dont bleach out.

What I've seen suggested before is to put a few layers of mesh/screen between the light and the tank. This will block a good percentage of the light so that your corals don't get shocked. Then you can remove a layer of screen every few days to get them gradually used to the increased level of light.

This works well and is what I did when going to T-5s. Most hardware stores carry normal window/door screen.
