Life Like Corals

Im not sure about saltwater and plastic but im sure if you get alge on them it will be soooo hard to get off... I know in my kids freshwater tank they have some of them plastic things and the alge seems like to attatch to it and its so hard to get off.. I think the plastic life like things for saltwater are pretty but i would look into it more i think the alge will be hard to get off it... Hope this helps...

Well there is the option of running it through the dishwasher soapless. Of course then yould have to soak it in vinegar or bleach or something. Then rinse for days. Then maybe a good dry out in the sun.

Oh rats! I was just thinking it might work!

:strooper:

I just cant bellive "LIFE LIKE" was used if the description of these! Ive seen them in a tank at the lfs and they stick out like a sore thumb they dont look natural at all and will fool no one that has ever seen coral or isnt a young kid. They dont look good in a tank and by that I mean they look like plastic decorations not live coral.

IMO, having some plain old rock in the tank that will color up with coralline algae (deep purple) over time is nicer to look at than those.

They tend to get covered in the coralline algae anyway and they also get a greasy film on them.

Personally, I would avoid them. $$$ too!!

try www.reeferrocks.com

Ask to speak to Capt Jer. Tell him what you are working with and your plans and he will hook you up

CrOsSwIrE if you like them I can get one and saw you off a frag for $30 ill make it a nice size frag just for you ill make it about 3/4"! LOL

LOL i guess that would be ok if someone who didnt really know too much about corals seen it.. On the other hand the plastic things to me are silly, if your gonna have a nice tank why add plastic...lol... Do it and do it right!!!

still laughin about the plastic glued to LR....hehehehhehe i'd love to see that posted on the tank of the month picture...lol..

well, i guess the bottom line is whether you like it. the "reef community" will not be the ones looking at your tank every day. and some of them are $10. seems like a pretty cheap thing to try out and see if you like it.

if you are talking about inorganic tank decorations, who cares what others think if you get pleasure from it and enjoy it.
