Light and zoa color

rogergolf66

im an addict lol
Ok have lots of zoa over 50 different kinds. I have noticed some of the zOa/ pally that have black in them the black isn't a deep black anymore. Is this a light issue? All r open and doing great even those and growing good just missing the deep black. All other colors r great.

Any ideas why?

Or

What I should try?

Thanks
Roger

Moving them to a shadowed area to adjust to different lighting conditions and work your way up sounds like expulsion of zoanxthelle*

It involves the zooxanthellae. If the zoa/paly lives in low light alot of times, more zooxanthellae is produced and you see these colors appear. In higher lighting when we bleached them, this is caused by the zoa/paly reducing the amount zooxanthellae. A disappearance in color but normal and stable health, means that specific zooxanthellae are currently not needed or is lacking the correct intensity or light spectrum.

Move the frag around into different intensities first. If that doesn't work, try adding different light spectrums.

So simalar to sps I just didn't know since I only am having the issue with the color black. Currently the coral is under a 250w de Phoenix 14k . With led supplemental in the 460nm range.

I have anothe tank I can try it in. Lighting is 250w mH se 20k radium with led supplemental in the 440nm and 460nm . It would be down low in the front corner it i moved it to that tank. Same water. What do u think is best?

FWIW, nothing has really changed in my tank. Everything looks good. (mixed reef/same routine) These GBP's that I've had though, (for a long time) have just "popped" recently. BRIGHT orange now. The colors are really defined. Go figure... :)

My details are down below in my signature btw.

Light adaptation, most of the time.
Just leave them in the spot you have chose for them and wait for it's turn.
Avoid moving them around.
Not a big deal.

Grandis.
