light at night on tank ?

dos anyone have all their lights out at night on their tank. or is it ok to have a 15w actinic as a moon light for my 65g. cause i just walk by the tank just now to look at it and their are all kinds of weird shiz all up in my tank. oh yea and i just got a blood red shrimp. really happy about him.

oh yea and i also want to know what is this purple looking crab thing.

Hey Ciro,

How are the frags? Anyways, in my tank I have the Halides turn off first ( one a little later than the other) Then I hae the actinics turn off last. After teh actinics go out then my moonlight turn on. I have those run til about midnight and then they turn off. You can get some awesome moonlights for really cheap at www.autolumination.com
It works out to like $17 for the LEDS and power supply all you need is to solder or twist the wires together. These are really bright. I know bckane has them over his tank as well.

lookin good, got any new fts? cool shrimp I always wanted a scarlet shrimp but i have a coral banded and they won't mix. not sure what kinda crab that is, be careful though some crabs will eat coral.

looking good, the most fun time looking at the tank is at night when you see all the cool hitchhikers.

That's a porcelain crab, which is actually a filter feeder. I've had one in my tank for almost 2 years and he's gotten huge. Came in with the LR.

Jess il get u a fts when i get home tonight but it still needs lots of rock. im just really tight on my budget now. i only got the shrim cause my uncle suprised me wit a pair of false percs to put in my tank and i explaind to him that i cant put thm in thier cause my black perc is already fighting my other false perc. so i went and traided for the shrimp and some store credit.

Jeffbrig mine came wit one of my rocks to. i just wanted to know if he would pec at my corals. cause i really like him and he looks sweet. plus its cooler when they are freebies.

I would say that it would be best for you marine life to turn off the lights. I keep my moons lights on for the 3 hours. I have them turn off around 12pm. I think most marine life need complete darkness ...

Does the crab use fans on his legs to move water toward him? Thats what my porcelan does too. cool looking, Im glad to hear they get big.
