Light brands and suggestions

hmm jay says I only need one 150w to keep a few softies and zoos and I can always buy another one or two later if I need it I guess. hrmmm thanks for the link I might actually grab one. I'll see if I can't pick something like that up on the forum but we'll see.

Agreed. Thanks again jeremy heh. I'll have a decent reef eventually and it'll be thanks to everyone here. :D

what does UL listed mean?

And ya for softies and stuff, the single 150 is gonna be enough. But like everyone else, you'll eventually want to go with more light so you can get some different corals besides just the softies, polyps, etc. So thats another thing to consider. Just go all out now and spend 300 or so, or go just half now and half later, but in the end you'd prolly be spending more.

I also like the viper idea tho. But everyone in the nano forum seems to think they're crap...is this true or no? i really dont see how they can be that bad.

That 150w jbj viper seems to be about the same price as a mh "lamp" the bell shaped ones that hang from the cealing so probably decent. UL is a standard of testing done by some independent people. Pretty high standards. things like jebo and odyssea are not UL listed. Oh and I'll talk with the wife on ordering one. If I can't get it soon I'll just bring it to the frag meeting.

if you are still looking for 270 (thats with taxes included) you can get a Coralife Aqualight 150w MH clip-on pendant at Aquarium Arts that will prolly do it for you. i have it over a 29g and love it!

i decided against the viper after i read thread after thread of problems with them such as poor ballasts, cheap bulbs that die after only 2-3 months, tons of problems with them so far and for only 50 more bucks you get a quality light from Coralife.

here's a pic w/ it over my 29g

sorry if its not very clear, it was a quick snap.

probably worth the extra 50... think I actually found one we'll see. Jeremy I'll give that frag to you at the meeting and you can just frag it for me when it gets to that time. Better safe than sorry.

yes you are correct it is 249 at aquarium arts, BUT as i said with tax it is 270.

*edit: i just noticed i wasnt very clear on my post, i meant to say... if you are still looking at MH, you can get " " for 270.
