light question

It's my birthday this monday and may have the funds to do something with.

At the moment I have 108watts of 10k PC and 36watts actnic PC on my 24 nano. I am thinking about the 70 watt Halide.

Would the 70 watt hqi put out more light that the pc I already have? Or would I be bettter off getting else for my tank? maybe a chiller

I don't know if the change to a 70 watt will make that much difference. I had a 24 gallon and bought the 70 watt first and was unhappy with it. Seemed to not get enough to the bottom. I ended up with a 150 watts mh with two 18 watt pc's. Everything loved it.

It probably depending greatly on the corals you want to keep or are keeping already. if they are growing, happy, and colored up well....I wouldn't change it. If you want more SPS type corals then the 150 watt would be better.

Just my opinion though. Not a lighting expert....

You have an auto topoff already right? I agree with Kalied I think the 70watt halide might be a let down for you. Sounds like you have quite abit of light over it already. The shimmer from MH is nice though...

Maybe get the chiller? Having the chiller would leave your options of going to 150watt mh down the road an easy thing to do. If you are wanting to keep sps....

Have you looked at one of those saphire protein skimmers?

Its fun thinking of ways to spend other people's money. BTW happy pre-birthday!
