lighting DSB from the side

hey there.

Im about to set up a new sump/fuge to replace my old one filled only with LR.

i want to use a DSB in one chamber, one filled with LR and one with a SSB+macroalgae.

i use a skimmer too so there would be 4 chambers + the return area, and i would like to have the skimmer first to not destroy any useful fauna i created in the fuge. so my setup would be:
skimmer - LR - DSB - fuge with caulerpa - return

would it be bad to have the lit fuge next to the dsb?

thanks in advance!

I don't see any major issues, you may get a little algae in the sand against the side which has light, but it shouldn't be a problem. You could always make your sump/fuge baffles out of black acrylic, and even put a opaque cover over the DSB portion to minimize light transmission.

thanks for your answer!

black acrylic is hard to get here so that doesnt seem to be an option. ill try with glass..
