lighting for a 30 galon tank .

please give me some idea about my lighting ?!

right now i have a 30inch coralife lunar aqualight , but i want upgrade to metal helide light , so that i can put some coral with strong light needed/ gave my current coral better light .



right now i am thinking about or if anybody have other ideas , please tell me .

1) custom made :
15000k or 20000k hqi with two actinic power compact.( or with t5?)

2) AQUALIGHT ADVANCED - HANG-ON TANK MOUNT with 2 actinic t5 ?


btw does moonlights really needed /have any use ?

please please give me advise about how to give my coral better light ?! thank so much .

alot of people. fans are cheaper and work fairly well.

I have a 250W DE on my tank with Aqua Macro's tiny clip-on fan and it stays locked at 78 degrees. I would just go with a pendant and scratch the actinics.

do you guys feel that MH is still better for sps corals then T5s?

I have a Reef Optix 150w on my 18 with no chiller. 9" above the water, it only raises my temp ~1 degree

People have had impressive results with T5s so I can't say definitively that one is better than the other. I just prefer the look and results of metal halide, and so do most coral farmers.

I love the look and color of my t-5s plus the run so much cooler, no need for a chiller
