Hi,
I just got two clowns and they are not happy, trying to host in my goni and goni is well not liking it at all.
Bottom line I want to get something for them.... bta, frog spawn, hammer.....
For lighting I have a PC 48" Coralife Lunar Aqualight

(260W Total) 4X65W 4 Blue Moon Glow LED Lights. Is that enough light? Getting conflicting research and know that you all are super helpful! Trying to do this on a budjet...... tank 72 bow.
Thank you in advance....;)

that is probobly enough light for a bta and definetly enough for a frog or hammer
good luck any clown that is attempting to host anything is pretty happi in my book but you need to watch that tang

Thank you very much for your responce! I really appreciate it alot!!!!!
I am keeping an eye on Tang.... e is being a bit of a intimator....

Porr little Nimo is trying to host the goni and goni is not totaly unhappy about it but mostly pulled in.... I love thes clowns they are fun!

Goniopora is a very difficult coral to keep; it'll really have problems if the clowns keep irritating it.
I think you should have enough light for a BTA.
Another option would be a Sarcophyton (toadstool) leather. They don't seem to mind the clowns beating them as much as some of the LPS do.

I would go for a leather. Mine were "homeless" and hosted in the corner of my tank for 9 or so months. Once I put this in, the female took to it almost instantly, and the male shortly afterwards.

The leather could quite honestly care less about the clowns. At first it would withdrawal it's polyps a bit, but the clowns play in it, rub on it, nibble at it, etc with no issues.

Bottom left is where their home is. It use to be under T5's until recently.

I have a leather and they are not interested in it. They seem to like the side of the tank that this goni is on. I think I will move it and try moving the leather over and see if he will like that! I was hoping that is what they would do.

I love my goni's and am having great sucess with them. Do not want this to make him MAD and.....

Thanks for the great pics! I appreciate it a bunch!

I've experienced the same problem recently. I've had a beautiful goniopora for the last three months (great polyp extension, no loss of xooanthellae, etc.) and added a tomato clown about a week ago. The clown has been harassing the coral badly.

I bought a RBTA five days ago in the hopes that the clown would host in it. Well, now the clown is hosting in both! Glutton. I'm selling the goniopora, unfortunately....but I don't want it to die on my account.

Good luck.

hi guys what kind of leather is that?
It's commonly called a Toadstool leather -- one of several similar varieties in the genus Sarcophyton.

I have moved the goni to the other side of the tank and the clowns are leaving it alone. They have not taken to hosting the rbta or the pink tipped anem but they not worried about it. They either will or will not. Goni is doing much better and that makes me happy!

I really like the two anems! They were super hungry when I got them! Feed them and they seem happy.

Thanks a bunch eveyone! I appreciat all your input and advice.

BTW: the above tank is fantastic! Love your leather!!!! I have seen them before and did not realize that clowns liked them....
