Lighting for Reef 92 Gallon Corner Tank

Lighting

Sorry it's taken me a few days to respond Putman...

I had a 36" hood with 4 x T5s and another 24" hood with 4 x T5s (4 actinic and 4 daylight total). That's 252 Watts for 92 gallons.

Then I added a PFO Mini MH pendant (150 Watts). That brings my total lighting from ~2.7W/gallon to ~4.4 W/g. And it allows me to place those inverts with high lighting requirements near the MH lamp.

With a 92 gallon corner tank I now have: a 36" T5 in front, with a 24" T5 behind that, and the 12" Mini MH pendant behind that. That yields the most light at the highest altitude of rocks. The two sides are a bit dim, but I think it's fine.

Welcome to the basement club Chris! I think I would have lost my mind under that tank if I had not moved to the basement. It only took me about 5 months to get the heck out of the stand and downstairs.

My latest project is adding a 225 gallon in the basement that will be plumbed into the existing set-up. In the end I'll have a 435 gallon system ... the addiction never ends!

I think I can oblige. Thanks for asking. I very recently changed the lighting over the tank. I don't have recent tank pictures, but I did take the time to snap a shot of the fixture (while still on the floor).

I'll try to get some more recent shots very soon.

My new lighting looks something like this...

The MH hood has a 400W Mogul Ushio lamp. The side fixtures are Coralife 24 Inch Aqualight With 65 Watt 50/50 Lamps.

Seems that a single 400w MH is a popular configuration, some use supplemental lighting, some don't. Perhaps I will go that route too...

What Color Temp is your MH?

Chris,

Do you have a canopy? How do you hang your side supplemental fixutres.

I have the 400W lights but I would LOVE to go 10k MH with some blue suppliments.

Thanks,
Drew
