lighting height

how high would you suggest I hang my lights for my 65g? I'll be using 2x250W radiums and 2x39w T5's for actinic. Tank is sps/clam and currently has a single 400w XM 20k hanging over it at about 12" (bulb to water)

Tagging along because I have a total of 760watts made up of 2x250w 14k mh and 4x65watts antics hung 18 inches above my 75g dp.:idea:

would 12" be too high? The lights will be in an open back canopy with plenty of vents and there will be a 6" fan on one side blowing over the water.

the canopy will be 15" high..so if reflectors bolted to the top...there would be 12" bulb to water...can I go closer? 10"? 8"?

I think anywhere from 8" to 12" would be fine. I think that should be enough light even up at 12". The lower you go the more salt creep you will get which will reduce light a bit unless you clean the reflectors often.
