Lighting Help

So Im getting some new lights but wondering if this is too much light for my tank? (55g, no hood, and no way for me to hang the lights so they will be mounted on the tank) 48' Metal Halide 250 T5 HO Aquarium Light LUNAR MOON !
2X 250 Metal Halide + 4 X 54 T5 HO DELUXE

that would be 716 watts, is that too much? is there such a thing as too much? Thanks in advance for any responses

Whether or not it is too much light would depend on what you are planning on keeping in there.

Also, how deep is your tank? Is it the standard 55g size?

You might want to just make sure that the light you have chosen will not hang over the edge of your tank. Besides it looking funny, there is no sense in paying extra $ to light up your carpet.

yeah its standard 55g, and the light wont hang over...I would like to keep SPS and some LPS...my tank I believe is 21 inches deep maybe 22 inches...thanks
