Lighting my Artisan 50g cube?

XR15 is easier to control and has multiple color spectrums you can mess with, Kessils are more comparable to halides and one A360 wide will light a CAD 50 Cube fine by itself, you can still control these but I believe you can only go White/Blue which works great. Best option for color and overall health would be that Halide/Reefbrite combo imo. SPS don't like change in lighting at all

I just placed an order at BRS for a AI52 and controller!

It seemed like my best "bang for the buck" lighting option. I ordered the "new" controller,...I hope that was the right one?

Yep. You can also control the Hydra, Hydra 26, and Hydra 52 with the AI module from Neptune for use with the Apex controller. AI also sells a wireless hub for their lights called the "Director".

I use the director, the controller should be just fine, but not have the web interface.

Sorry, I should've come back to this thread sooner... I have both Kessils and 52's over my tank and the 52 makes the kessil look like it isn't even on at times. I am glad to see you bit the bullet and went with the 52 as it should do everything you need it to. The director is the better way to control the lights IMO as you have more control running them from your computer but their controller is more than capable of running these lights for a successful reef.

In hindsight it looks like I should have went with the director but Bulk Reef Supplies list the controller I purchased as the "new" one. I wouldn't have minded spending a few more dollars for the director but one would think the new one was better! O well I will make do!

"New" refers to a new model of the same controller - I have the older one. Both work; the newer one has tactile buttons instead of the hard plastic electrostatic touch buttons of the older one.

One thing you will need with the physical controller like you've got coming is a power connection. The controllers use a USB cord, and for the other end you can use a USB cell-phone power adapter.

I would think I have one of those laying around.
