lighting option for new tank

super stoked, im just gonna upgrade the bulbs to something better. hopefully the tank will be up next week.

Is HQI better or worse than MH? Are double ended bulbs harder to find?

Do they cast more or less of a shadow? Are the glass used to encapsulate the bulbs different? Read somewhere about non UV protected glass in DE HQI bulbs.

Also what is difference between 150 vs 250 watts for frag/prop tank?

I am now like Danny evaluating if my lighting.

Is having no UV shielding bad for corals? Is it just too much UV or bad UV-B/UV-B?

Ron without shielding it will burn the corals.

With my MHs I prefer a glass shield. It does both UV and bulb protection. I see how many little splashes get on the shield. So glad that's not on the MH bulb.

my lights came today!!! wooh!!

it shipped from the east coast last week and arrived with some broken t5 lamps =( not the end of the world though.

now off to home depot for plumbing parts and some conduit and the tank should be up very shortly =]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]
