Lighting question

[Psychographic]

I have a 10 gallon fuge that I keep Cheato and some Caulerpa in. I have two 18" NO fluorescent fixtures in the hood. What is my best choice for bulbs for maximum growth Using these fixtures.

My intuition says a bulb that is between 5000-6500K. Such as the "Daylight Deluxe" bulb at Home Depot.

i second Triterium...any NO bulb that has a kelvin rating between 5000 and 7000 kelvins. i run spiral conpacts on my refugium that has chaeto...they have a blue-ish tink when new and are supposed to be at 6500 kelvins...but i have noticed that the color gets yellower over time especially when compared to a new bulb side-by-side.

anything like Hagen's Aqua-Glo or Flora-Glo would work, but i bet you could find something cheaper at your local hardware store.

Those Home Depot - Philips Daylight F40T12/DX Fluorescents bulbs are an excellent choice. 6500 Kelvin, the CRI is 84, and only $6.99 for a pack of 2 bulbs. Easy to afford changing these every 6 months!

I totally agree with John here. My freshwater plants would grow out of the tank with two of those guys. Almost any bulb marked daylight will do just fine.

actually the 23w 5100k bulbs [spotlight] are the hot ticket

stay away from kent or any plant growth type light. we have tested and there nothing like these.

the 6500 do good and if there in your local store no problem run em the 5100 just edge em out

That bulb wont fit his NO flourescent fixture though. I think he was looking for typical bi-pin type bulb suggestions.
