Lighting question

Don't ask me, I'm wrong.
Does 5000K full spectrum bulbs do anything for reef tanks, it claims thats pretty blue, but it seems pretty low on the kelvin scale to me.

The reason I ask is they have the power compact screw in bulbs that need no ballast.

and this one is equivalent to a 500 watt incandescent. and it's 5k CS .

Has anybody every seen these in higher spectrum's? maybe even actinic?

I run a 5K power compact like that on my sump. My bulb is pretty yellow, but my bulb is consideralby lower wattage. Although my understanding is that the color of the light totaly relies on the spectrum number. (which is the same as that) It works well for growing macro algea, but I wouldn't use it as a display bulb (the color of the light is too yellow for my taste).

It would be awsome if they had these in higher spectrums. I have never seen anything much higher than this though.

They have these type bulbs up to 6500k. They are still pretty yellow though. They might look OK with some actinics though. I've never tried that.
