Lighting requirement for anemone

I was looking at getting an anemone for my tank. I would like to get a long tentacle anemone. The description says that it needs 4 watts of light per gallon in tank. I have a 46 gallon tank with a 36" coralife double strip power compact. The 10,000K blub and the actinic bulb are both 96 watts. When judging light strength, does this just count as 96 watts or as 192 watts?

They typically require MH but in your case i would really recomend a bubble tip if have never kept one as they tend to be a llittle easier to handle so you can get some experience, but if you still have your heart set on getting a LTA then you can compensate for lighting by feeding more often.

emmelemmo,

your lights count as 192W. I'm currently keeping a green BTA in my 29g tank under 130W of power compact lights. the anemone stays near the top of my LR, and has been doing well for 4months now.

is it possible to keep a BTA in a 10 gallon aquarium?

I have 96 watts of 50/50 10K/ atinic

or would it just be too risky?

I have a 55 gallon tank and I have a pink tip anemone in my tank and he stays at the bottom of the tank near the sand where he hides his body from everything, I currently have a CustomSeaLife fixture 2x96 watts 1 actinic and 1 10,000k and he does fine

Thanks for the advice. I think that I might give the BTA a try it sounds like it might be a better fit for me and my clowns.

All anemone species will move around by themselves. The BTA is a semi-aggressive anemone and it will move around. If you have corals in the tank, you'll need to be very careful. It will sting other inhabitants. I once had a pretty large carpet and it wrapped itself around my arm once and I couldn't get it off. I think I actually hurt it trying to get that thing off my arm.
