Lighting Schedule Help

Got Sticks?
I am searching for the answer and best way to provide light to my tank.

90G RR Tank

Lighting: 2x Super Actinic VHO and 2x 175w 14K SE Halides - 4x LED (Moon lights)

Current Schedule:

- Moon Lights: 24/7
- Both VHO 10am to 10pm
- Halides 12pm to 8pm

Should I only be running the VHO's when the halides are off 10am to 12pm and 8pm to 10pm... or do most people continuously run everything?

Reason being - Heat in my tank is insane...and I have a fan on sump, and built in fans in my canopy..

Well I only have had this setup for about 2 weeks - My 40B sprung a leak and had to upgrade. I used to run a 250w Halide over that..

Anyhow - I'm still trying to figure out what works best here. Lately its been 93F around here with no AC in the Living room with tank.....so my temp was 90F in the tank when I got home yesterday... :(

This is with a Push / Pull Configuration of fans built into the canopy. Have not installed AC in the living room yet - Currently running a fan on the sump also + Frozen Water bottles in the Sump -

I woke up this morning and tank was at 82F - I also turned my Fuge light off for the day.

You will have to get the ambient room temp down to the mid 70's to keep the tank at a reasonable temp. My sump is in the basement so that helps with keeping my tank temp down.

By insane what do you mean?

Corals and fish can tolerate pretty large temp swings as long as it's consistent. The ocean can vary from 76-86 degrees. But the variance is predictable and stable and it doesn't do so suddenly.

If your hitting low 80s in the day and mid 70s at night, I'd say don't worry about it and just keep it consistent. Making a big sudden temp change to something more "accepted" will do more harm than good.
