Lighting, water turn over and skimmers?

Hi folks,

I have yet made any purchases with about a month of constant research , this is what I have in mind. A Deep Blue 75 rimless reef ready tank. Two Kessil A160WE, a maxispect gyre XF150 generator flow pump and a classic reef octopus 110 EXT recirculating protein skimmer. With this you can see what are my budget is in, but need to feel positive I will make the smart choices. I have concerns, as I do not recall the proper turn over should be, is it singly or total. Any recommendations on smoothly getting a mixed tank ready would be appreciated.
Thanks

There's two turnover rates you need to deal with.

1 - Turnover through the sump. Generally 3-10 times tank volume through the sump is a good zone to work with. The higher the flow the harder it can be to keep it quiet though.

2- Turnover in the Display. This will depend on your actual inhabitants. For a mixed reef I would shoot for a starting turnover of 20-30x. So a 75g tank should have in tank flow of 1500-2300 gph as a rough estimate starter. For more SPS dominant tanks it's a good idea to start in the 40-50x range and adjust accordingly. You can go as high as 100x turnover, and I have, as long as you choose proper pumps/powerheads and position things properly.

Thanks guys,
Sorry for such a late reply as I just figured out how to find my posts, I have one maxispect gyre rated at 2300 gph and two Sicce XStrean wave pumps rated at 3500 gph, my return pump I can not recall but know I had it on my 1150g reef over 5 years ago, but plan on replacing soon. Total gph of inner tank is 9300 gph, and I don't see much movement or is it?
Again thanks folks
